Trailer Talk: Water for Elephants

Prepare yourselves

I’m sorry. I’m trying my hardest to put two coherent words together, to tell you about this wonderful book and amazing trailer, but I am failing miserably. The only thing that seems to be running through my mind . . . Well, it’s embarrassing. The incoherent mumble of a few disconnected sentences that contain words like, “Oh. My. God,” and “Beautiful,” are ever abundant when I watch this fantastic trailer. Yes. I said fantastic. I say this, because I’ve read the book Water for Elephants (*cough* Check out my book review *cough*) and know that what I see here is almost exactly what I pictured in my head. I also say this, because, look at it! I . . . don’t . . . ugh . . . just watch it . . .

I think I need a moment to myself. We’ll talk later. Is it April yet?

Press Play Friday: Fresh Music 12/10/10

Yay! I love new music!

Get those headphones ready. Turn up the volume. It’s time for some new music! Once again, I found myself browsing the iTunes library and came upon these three random acts of ear-goodness. These songs are sure to give you a couple earworms for the next week or so. I know. I know. You’re welcome. Today, we come across three very different musical talents. There’s a little something for everybody. First up, we have Adele. It seems not that very long ago, when she was crooning out Chasing Pavements for her debut album. Now she has a new single out and an upcoming album (Available February 22) that is sure to make your “Music I need to buy right now” list. Let’s take a listen at one of my new favorite songs, Rolling in the Deep.

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “By the Light of the Moon”

Have you seen this werewolf?

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

Oh, Vampire Diaries. How you tease. Making me think that we were in for a sexy (Yet, wrong. Yes, definitely wrong) cave romp between Stefan and Katherine and then . . .  such a tease. But why should I expect anything less from you? You surprise me every week and always keep me guessing. Caroline and Tyler? Wow. That was heartbreaking. Elijah? What the hell was all that about? You are the show that makes me continually say “What the?” in every scene. And I thank you for it. Now let’s get to this recap, because I have some things to say to you. For those of who you’ve seen last nights episode, you can skip right ahead. The rest of you have to lock yourself up in the Lockwood’s underground werewolf cellar, because this is a SPOILER ALERT!

Here we go. Are you ready? We open up to a desperate Tyler, trying to get a hold of poor dead werewolf Uncle Mason. The video of Mason’s first transformation plays in the background (That’s a lot of screaming How could he keep listening to that?). Cut to Mason’s former living establishment in Florida, where Mason’s “friend” (Who are you?) listens to Tyler’s plea and his recognition of the upcoming full moon. Why, she looks suspicious. Especially, when she shows up at the Lockwood mansion looking for the werewolf. She tells Tyler and his mom that Mason never made it back to Florida, making him officially a missing person (We know where he is. Chuckle).

Are You Reading FanFiction?

Am I a certified fangirl now?

Source

Alright. I’m going to say something, or rather, admit to something I’ve never told another living person. Are you ready? Sit down. Breathe in. Breathe out. Here it comes – Wait. I’m not sure about this – I read FanFiction. Yes. That’s right. Save your giggles for later. I. Read. FanFiction. Actually, I’m just starting to read FanFiction. I guess, I figured it was about time. I’ve been delaying it for quite a while now. Plus, now I can truly say I’m a fangirl. Reading FanFiction is like getting your certificate of authenticity. It’s required.

I never had an inclination to read FanFiction before. I didn’t understand it. I didn’t see the point. More than that, I was a skeptic. Now, I’m an addict. Two months ago, for whatever reason, I decided it was time. I let the world of FanFiction take my hand and guide me into the inner sanctum. I didn’t know what to expect. Then as I settled in and read that first chapter, things changed. My FanFic cherry had been popped. Nights that I reserved for sleeping, became nights sitting up until one in the morning, reading until I passed out from exhaustion.

FanFiction is an absolute guilty pleasure. Admittedly, I’ve only read 2.5 stories so far, and all have been Twilight themed. Yet, the stories I’ve read are great. There’s mystery, romance, conflict, and drama. Everything you want out of a good book. Only, it’s FanFiction. I do need to say that FanFic is an acquired taste. It’s not for everybody. You need to accept that most stories don’t deal with normal everyday circumstances. Most are a bit out there (And smutty). Think of FanFiction like any other story or book. Find what you like, and enjoy. There are Harry Potter and Vampire Diaries FanFiction stories. Supernatural FanFiction (I’m looking forward to reading some of those). You can basically find FanFic on anything that you love. There is something for everybody. With that, I give you this recommendation: read FanFiction. Yep, that’s it. Read FanFiction. You can thank me later.

For those who are still FanFic virgins, I send you off into the world with this: fanfiction.net. No other words needed. Explore. Enjoy. Then tell me what you think. The rest of you FanFic readers, tell me what your favorite stories are. Are you a FanFiction addict?

Dim the Lights. The Show’s About to Begin. (Drama Edition)

I want to see that!

The year is winding down, dear readers. While the season is usually spent visiting friends and family, wrapping gifts, and shoveling massive amounts of snow, there are things we must not forget. The most important, by far? Movies. Yes, you heard me. What? Did you think I was going to say love, peace, and joy? No. It’s movies. The year is almost over and that means the Oscar race is heating up. How will we know which movies to pick on our home-made Oscar ballot, if we don’t see any movies this holiday season? Don’t wait until the last-minute. Trust me. It’s not fun. Come Oscar night, you’ll be rallying which movie you want to win; instead of contemplating which movies to rent on DVD. We must go to that moderately sized theatre on the corner and spend our available sleeping hours basking in the glow of that projector. It’s a must. There is an overwhelming amount of movies that just have to be seen. You heard me. Go. Go now. Wait. Stop. Watch these trailers first.

Ryan Gosling. Enough said.

Supernatural Rewind: “Caged Heat”

The Pizza Man

Source: Supernatural Fans Online

It was a drama filled episode this week for our favorite brothers. Though, isn’t that usually the case? We came closer to retrieving Sammy’s soul, – by trusting a demon . . . again (That’s so wrong) – but were shoved an equal length back. Is there no hope for Sam, after all? Lately, I’ve gown accustomed to New Sam. Yes, I’ve grown accustomed to his face. Yet, I still miss that smiling soul-filled face of yesteryear. Not to mention, we lost a dear friend this week. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry, but I’m going to miss *r*w**y. Let’s all have a moment of silence for our favorite demon. Okay that’s enough. It’s time for your recap and play-by-play. For those who’ve seen Friday’s fantastic episode, onwards and downwards. For all the card-caring demon meatsuits out there who didn’t, SPOILER ALERT!

This week we open with an old friend. Crowley. At least, he used to be an old friend. Now, not so much. He’s making good use of his demon torture skills on his most recent victim. Crowley. Wait. What? Yes. You heard me. Crowley is torturing, Crowley. At least, the shape-shifter version of him. He believes the shifter has more information on the location of Purgatory, but he wont give anything up. After unsuccessfully motivating the shifter – with a pipe to the head – to answer his questions, Crowley set upon using a magic knife to carve the information out of him. Didn’t work. His next attempt was to bargain. If the shifter drew him a map of Purgatory, he wouldn’t kill the several shifter babies in the nursery. The shifter wouldn’t budge, so Crowley sliced his (And his?) head off. “Kinda guess I lost my head.”

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The Sacrifice”

What do you think you’re doing?

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

Finally! The Vampire Diaries is back and in full force. Man, I missed my vamptastic prime-time soap opera. You never realize how much you love something until it’s gone. Oh, Damon. It feels like an eternity since we last saw a new episode. I can’t even remember what happened the last time Damon and Stefan were on my television screen. Hmmm . . . I think a refresher is in order. Hold on. I need a minute to recall Katerina. Wow. Okay. Yeah. I remember now. So good. The Sacrifice might not have been as jaw-dropping as the previous episode, but it still held some big moments. Ex. Bonnie and Jeremy. Raise your hand if you were yelling at Jeremy to kiss her. For a moment, I thought it was going to happen. Then as she stopped him, my heart dropped. I might have thrown a pillow at my TV. Another highlight of the night: Damon threatening to throw Elena over his shoulder. It was a panty combusting moment, to be sure. But, I’m giving everything away. You’ll just have to read my juicy play-by-play and recap to get all the particulars. So for those of you who’ve seen last nights episode, onwards and downwards. The rest of you know the drill. SPOILER ALERT!

TV Rewind: Terriers – “Quid Pro Quo” & “Hail Mary”

There is a fork in the road

Source: Google Images

Hello, my dear friends. I’m back. Miss me? Of course you did. It’s been one long (too long) Thanksgiving break. I hope you enjoyed your over-sized turkey dinners, the company of friends and family, and sleepless nights reading fan-fiction; but now it’s back to business. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do. What better way to start, than by recapping not 1, but 2 episodes of Terriers.

Last week’s semi-spectacular episode (Quid Pro Quo) was the prelude to this weeks window-shattering finale. In fact, the whole season, beginning to end, was leading up to last night’s Hail Mary. I have to say, at a few points during the night, it seemed as if they were saying goodbye (No!). However, that last scene proved to be one hell of a cliff hanger. How could I not jump out of my seat in frustration and excitement? It was a perfect ending to a near-perfect season. While the fate of my new favorite TV show still hangs in the balance (I know what to ask Santa for this Christmas: a season 2 of Terriers), these past two episodes (Quid Pro Quo is my favorite episode of the season) kept proving what we knew all along. Terriers is one of the best shows on TV. Okay, enough of my gushing, let’s start this mega recap!
