TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The End of The Affair”

“You’ve got to have friends.”

*Fans self* Holy mother of awesome! Seriously, wasn’t that one of the best TVD episodes you have ever seen? Yes. I know it was. I might have to go out on a limb and say, that not only was it my favorite, but it was THE best episode of the entire series. You heard correctly. Last night, we were treated to a delicious buffet of mystery, suspense, romance, and heartbreak. To top off the night, a dash of comedy was added for good measure. It really was a fantastic episode. Damon’s multitude of snarky one-liners were priceless. The Caroline cliffhanger was resolved, though I must say, a little underwhelming. Klaus was back with all his evil delight and dropping plot bunnies like no tomorrow. New characters were being developed left and right. Then, there was Elena and Stefan. Their love had been growing and fading over the past two seasons like a beautiful flower, and now Stefan has ripped it from its roots, and chopped it up into little, tiny pieces. Idiot. I’m sure we can all agree, that the night was a dazzling success. Now, I’m sure you’re all bouncing in your seats, ready to get to the juicy recap and play-by-play. So I won’t make you wait any longer. Grab your Damon pillow and hold on tight. This is a SPOILER ALERT!

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The Hybrid”

Klaus & The Plan That Was

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

Wow. What a night! The second episode of the new season was a fast paced, shock filled episode that left us wanting more. Or was that just me? I didn’t think so. This week we were one step closer to saving Stefan from his newly developed Ripper ways, but ultimately were forced another step back. Don’t worry, Stefan. We’ll save you . . . eventually. And though little was resolved about last weeks surprising finally (What was up with that, Mrs. Lockwood?), we were treated to another Caroline cliffhanger. Not cool, TVD writers. Not cool. Last night was just another classic Vampire Diaries episode, filled with twists & turns, heartfelt moments, and just a little bit of crazy on the side. We wouldn’t have it any other way, would we? Now I should warn you. This is a SPOILER ALERT!

This week we were welcomed by an unwanted sight. After last weeks disastrous meeting with Stefan (Bye, Bye Andie), it seems Damon is finally giving up on his brother. He disassembled every lead, every bit of information related to finding his lost sibling. Elena finds him in this dejected state; his old self reforming. As it always seems, Damon is unable to cope and resorts to sarcastic one-liners and harsh remarks. We love him anyway. Elena is relentless in her hope that she can save Stefan. She is determined in her belief that there is at least some part of the Old Stefan breathing beneath his corrupt outer shell.

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The Birthday”

“You can cry if you want to.”

Welcome friends and my fellow TVD groupies (You know who you are). I missed you all so much. Ooh! I must give a shout out to all you new readers out there. You are out there, aren’t you? Oh, good. Welcome to the first installment of this years super-awesome Vampire Diaries reviews/recaps brought to you by yours truly. How are you all doing? Have you come down from your TVD induced high yet? Yeah, me neither. After last seasons killer season finale (We miss you Aunty J and Uncle John. Uh, not really), we all had high expectations for the season three premiere. So much hope was placed on a breakthrough for Delena, a rightfully wicked storyline and character change for Stefan, and much more screen time for our favorite teacher and hunter, Alaric (Or was that just me?). Now the morning after, our heads are filled with last nights shenanigans – dissecting and reliving each moment in detail. We must ask ourselves the ultimate question. Did last nights premiere satisfy our cravings? Well, did it? I see you’re nodding your head. It’s true that last night was tame compared to the season two premiere, but what we experienced was much more of an emotional ride that pushed these characters to new limits. The last time we saw the residents of Mystic Falls, chaos ruled. Klaus had brought down his sadistic power over Elena and her family, while Stefan made a deal to sacrifice himself to save his brother, Damon, from a nasty werewolf bite (All that unneeded angst and drama is still not forgiven TVD writers). Set two months after the events of last seasons finale, we found our favorite characters trying deal with the aftermath. Warning! This is a SPOILER ALERT.

Press Play Friday: April Smith & The Great Picture Show

“Wow and Flutter”

Source: Google Images

Hello there, friends! Once again, it’s time for another Press Play Friday – your one stop shop for discovering the latest new music. And this week, I have something super-special for you. To say that I’ve been listening to this band non-stop for the past couple weeks is an understatement. I officially have a new music obsession (I’m sorry, Florence. It’s true) in April Smith & The Great Picture Show. Late last July, I actually got my first listen to April Smith and their unique infusion of pop and swing. Though, it wasn’t until recently I indulged at my local online music emporium and bought Songs For A Sinking Shipthe group’s debut album. With the melodious, powerhouse vocals by lead singer April Smith and the playful, cabaret inspired tunes featured on the album, I immediately fell for the charming and swoon-worthy qualities they both possessed.

For those music lovers out there, listening to April Smith will undoubtedly be a new, but familiar experience. In truth, there isn’t anyone making this type of music. Listening to the album, you feel as if you’ve been transported back to the early jazz clubs of New Orleans or taking a spin on the dance floor at the local bandstand. Songs reminiscent of the 30′s & 40′s juke joint style set Songs For A Sinking Ship apart from most music available today. Mix that with stand-alone vocals, a piano, a ukulele, and an accordion – and you’re in for one noteworthy ride.

The uptempo, sing-a-along tune Movie Loves A Screen is the first track off the band’s album. Honestly, this is one of those songs that just makes you smile. I guarantee you’ll be clapping your hands and trying to memorize the lyrics soon after you hear this little ditty.
