David Tennant: A Nerdist Interview

Why so awesome?

This past week – without any new episodes of TVD or Supernatural to obsess over – I took some time to play catch-up with my favorite podcasts. You should have seen my FanGirl self giggle and cheer with excitement when I found this little gem eagerly waiting for me, because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love the utterly fantastic and hilarious David Tennant? Our Nerdist Podcast host, Chris Hardwick, talked with the 10th Doctor about his past TV and film roles, the shocking things you find in Doctor Who FanFiction, his love of comic books, future projects, and (of course) Doctor Who. You can listen and download the podcast on iTunes HERE, but after that, you must promise to come right back and tell me what you thought of the sexy Scottish actor’s appearance. Okay? Okay. See you soon!

What did you think of the podcast? What was your favorite moment? Are you a Tennant fan? A Doctor Who fan? What is your favorite Nerdist Podcast interview? Tell me in the comments!

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The Ties That Bind”

Threats to the Heart

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

“What time is it? Time for a recap! Time for a recap!” Stops singing. Sorry. If you were watching this weeks all-new episode of The Vampire Diaries – and if you didn’t, why not? – you would know that there is nothing greater than the element of surprise. Am I right? Last night, several surprises were dropped at our feet: Stelena? Back on or still off? We don’t know, but one Salvatore brother should watch out. Dr. Fell? Crazy or utterly delightful? Theories as to who she really is came into some light, but we’re still skeptical about this one. Has Tyler seen the errors of his ways? Maybe, but you’ll never guess what he’s done this time. Klaus? Still evil. Actually, that isn’t much of a surprise. His new housemate is, though. Want to know all the juicy secrets and surprises from this weeks Vampire Diaries? Well, follow me. This is a SPOILER ALERT!

Again with the Bonnie . . . in the forest . . . with the coffins . . . dreaming. This is really getting old, TVD writers. This time, Dream Klaus tells Boring Bonnie that he’s found a way to open the mysterious Fourth Coffin, challenging her to beat him to it. Then he bites her and she wakes up in a coffin. It’s very Ryan Reynolds-ish (i.e. Buried: a movie hardly anyone saw. Including me). Fighting her way out of the nightmare, the coffin lid rises, and a face appears. Who is it? We shall find out . . . now. After Bonnie, to Sexy Stefan’s dismay, let’s Elena in on the location of the Klaus Family Coffins, Boring Bonnie recognizes that the nameless face she saw in her dream, is actually the face of her absentee mother. Gasp! Not really. Bonnie believes that finding her mother will help lead her to a solution for opening the closed Fourth Coffin. Enter, Damon. Besides gloating on the fact that he kissed Elena – “We kissed. Now it’s weird.” – the vampire and his sweet pout, give Bonnie and Elena the coordinates to B’s mommy’s house. What does this mean? Road trip! Sorry, Damon. You can’t come. Drat!

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “Our Town”

That Girl

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

I know. I know, I’m late posting this. Feel free to send me to my corner for ten to fifteen minutes, or as long as you feel is needed. I’ll go without a fuss. See you soon. “Oh. Hi, Stefan.” What? Didn’t you see him waiting in the corner too? No? Oh, sorry. Giggle. Yeah, you’re right. Let’s move things along (Bye, Stefan) and talk about Friday’s all new episode of The Vampire Diaries. While it wasn’t an episode that ranked high on the WTF? Scale or supplied us with some much-needed information, there were some dramatic moments that left us wanting more; giving us even more questions to ask. What is up with Dr. Fell? Is there a new love interest for Caroline? Why not now, Elena? The episode was a segue of sorts. Relationships were tested; many of them ending. A new storyline was pushed into place. The battle between Klaus and Stefan intensified. All was set to make way for something new. How did they do it? Let’s see, shall we? Warning . . . this is a SPOILER ALERT!

Scrub, scrub, scrub. Brush, brush, brush. Oh, how I love naked, wet Damon in the shower . . . smiling. I assure you that a smiling Damon is a big deal, since the man hardly ever smiles, or is in such a good mood. Ever. I’m betting that his oh-so-good mood has something to do with a certain someone, am I right? Yeah, I am. It’s going to be a good day for Damon Salvatore. Well, let’s let him think that for now. Poor, guy.

Elena, on the other hand, seems to be having some frustration. Sexual frustration? Probably, but let’s go with the theory that our girl, Elena, is still having doubts (questions, etc.) about her feelings for our favorite vampire. She’s taking out her ‘issues’ with her fists. Watch it there, Alaric.

Jason Mraz “I Won’t Give Up”

“Cause even the stars they burn, some even fall to the earth.”

It’s always such a great day when we get new music from our favorite artists. That first glimpse of an upcoming album brings with it a splendid level of excitement, a feeling of anticipation we welcome eagerly. It is even stronger when we have followed that artist since the beginning. Today we have one of those artists. Our resident Curbside Prophet has brought us another remedy for our music obsession. I Won’t Give Up is the first sample off of Jason Mraz’s fourth studio album, “Love is a Four Letter Word”, which is expected April 17, 2012. The song is a little bit different from what we’re used to, a sweet mix of folk and pop we haven’t really heard from him before. It seems Jason Mraz has now become the go-to-guy for romantic, pop ballads. The song shifts from a soft acoustic performance, to a powerful vocal chorus, ending with a gospel style ensemble of voices. I won’t Give Up is another brilliant, beautiful melody from the singer, emotion flows out of every phrase. I love how the song is played as such a simple truth. “I won’t give up on us, even if the skies get rough. I’m giving you all my love. I’m still looking up.” Go on, music lovers. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

What did you think of the song? Can’t wait for the new album? What is your favorite Jason Mraz song? Favorite album? Tell me in the comments!

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The New Deal”

Klaus-apocalypse

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

Oh, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes? Have you missed me? I’ve missed you, my fellow TVD fanatics. Let us all rejoice, the winter hiatus is finally over, and now we can get back to what really matters: fictional vampires, hybrids, and Originals. Plus, their myriad of issues – romantic and just plain absurd – that travel with them wherever they go. You know what I’m talking about. Take a look back at the previous episode, Homecoming, and see what I mean. Wow. Is every vampire’s – who fell in love with a human – life so messed up? This weeks all new episode of The Vampire Diaries sure made it seem that way. Didn’t it? Violence, death, and romance. It’s just another day in Mystic Falls. Now, I know you all want to get to your favorite part of the night; the jaw-dropping, long-awaited scene we’ll be talking about for a long time (Giggle), but we have some business to take care of first. Please proceed to the recap closest to you. This is a SPOILER ALERT!

Bonnie Bennett, what are you up to? Traipsing through a deserted home, located on the spot where one-hundred witches burned, listening to their mixed distorted voices lead you to four unopened caskets? Okay. Bonnie Bennett’s curiosity spikes as she quickly opens the dusty coffin to find  . . . Klaus. Klaus? Klaus, his dead fingers clutching Rebecca’s magical necklace. Huh. CREEK. Gasp! Bonnie Bennett awakens to find that it was all a dream. Phew. Cue the awesome running music!

Left. Right. Left. Right. Elena is running laps across the streets Mystic Falls on a rather sunny day. She stops, clocks her time, and smiles. It might be a good day, after all. Not so fast there, missy. Elena finds herself trying to out run a fellow jogger. Though her paranoia in this situation is acceptable, is he really following her? No, guess not.
