Supernatural Rewind: “The French Mistake”

“Season 6″

Source: Salted & Burned

Holy super late review/recap, Batman! Arg! I feel terrible about posting this so late. Please forgive me. It’s been a crazy week. You will never believe what happened. It all started when Balthazar appeared out of nowhere and started looking for ingredients for a spell (I know! This was just the beginning). Then, he told me that one of Raphael’s lackeys (Virgil) was here to do some “house cleaning” and steal back a key Balthazar had taken (Later, I learned that the “fake” key opened the magical locker full of Heaven’s weapons). Now I’m freaking out, wondering what the heck is going on, then Virgil shows up, Balthazar hands me the key, pushes me out the window, where I was immediately transported to an alternate universe where everyone thought Sam and Dean Winchester were these hot actors named Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who starred on this show called Supernatural. And I’m still freaking out trying to find a way home, when I see Castiel. But he’s not Castiel, he’s this tweet-aholic sweater lovin’ dude named Misha Collins and . . . Wait. What did you just say? This didn’t happen to me, it actually happened to Sam and Dean? And this awesome and super funny episode was one of the best ever? Oh, that’s right. You know what? I think we need to recap this episode the right way. Only, this could get confusing. Wouldn’t it be great and a whole lot easier to understand if it was made into a song? Yes. It would. Let’s do that! While you catch up with what went down in “The French Mistake” with this lovely video by Ash (and song by Stopitsgingertime), I’ll be waiting for you after the cut with a super-sized edition of the episodes best lines. Enjoy!

Supernatural Rewind: “Like A Virgin”

Are you there, Sam? It’s me, Dean.

Source: Supernatural Fans Online

Can you feel that? Can you feel the warm tingling sensation in the pit of your stomach, that feeling of satisfaction? Yes. I think you do. Do you know what it is? Do you know what is making you feel like everything is right in the world again? Yes. Supernatural. Friday night marked the return of our favorite show and . . .  wait for it . . . the return of Sam – the caring, sympathetic little brother we all missed and loved. In my favorite episode of the season (so far), Sam returned from his soul-less stint to find a secret-keeping brother and a new case. Like the sweet, sweet memory of a perfect day gone by, “Like A Virgin” brought us back to a place where everything just felt right. Now, Castiel told me to tell you, that the one’s who saw Friday’s episode may go onwards and downwards. The rest of you have to wait for your man-hug, because this is a SPOILER ALERT!

Night. A man and a woman are attempting to fly a small plane through a torrential thunderstorm. Yes, if it wasn’t a bad idea already, the man is yanked from his pilot seat and through the windshield by a mysterious flying being. Cue the sobs and screams.

Back in the panic room, Castiel uses his part-time status as a Soul Doctor to check on still sleeping patient, Sam. Rolling his sleeve down, Castiel breaks the news to awaiting brother, Dean. While Sam’s soul might be in its rightful place, its condition is less than exceptional. “It felt like it had been skinned alive.” Dean tries to reason that it was his only choice, but Castiel still had some choice words for Dean: “If you wanted to kill your brother, you should have done it outright.”

Supernatural Rewind: “Appointment in Samarra”

Death for A Day

Source: Salted & Burned

What the hell? A Supernatural recap when there hasn’t been an episode in a month and the show returns tonight? No, you’re not seeing things. No, Dean did not spike you’re ginger ale. No, I didn’t forget about you (I would never!). Yes, I figured that after that Sam-filled cliffhanger (i.e Sammy got his soul back), you needed some time to ask yourself “What just happened.” I think it’s safe to say that I wasn’t the only one a little confused, yet utterly relieved that we didn’t have to wait till the end of the season to see our boy Sam get his soul back. Seriously, did anyone see that coming? Yeah, I didn’t think so. So, how did he do it? How did Sammy get his soul back? Well, let’s find out.

Hey, there’s Dean. Hi, Dean! Here comes my favorite hunter strolling up in the Imapla. Where’s he going? Oh, just to see if Dr. Robert (Robert Englund) will kill him for three minutes and then bring him back. Say, what? Yeah. Kill him and bring him back. What? I didn’t hear you. For a few hundred-dollar bills and the understanding that if anything went wrong, he would deliver a letter to Ben (Really?), Dr. Robert will lend his (Almost 75% effective) skills to Dean. Damn. We almost went a whole half-season without one of our boys dying. Oh, well. I guess there’s always next year.

Apparently, meeting up with Death (Without his awesome super slow-motion montage), or rather, asking familiar faced Reaper Tessa to call Death, was the last stop in the Save Sam’s Soul World Tour. Dean wants to cut a deal. Dean will give up the location of Death’s ring (See Season 5) for the return of his brothers soul. Only, not so fast. Death already knows where Dean has hidden the ring and really could care less about it. Death is more interested in teaching Dean a lesson. So Death struck a deal of his own. If Dean could be Death for 24 hours, then Sammy boy would get his soul back – including a nice mental wall to keep those pesky Hell-filled memories at bay.

Supernatural Rewind: “Family Matters”

Please, Mister! Can I Have My Soul Back?

Source: Salted & Burned

Gah! Answers! Answers, answers, answers. We wanted them, and boy, did we get them. We got an explosion of truths and facts that was enough to singe our eyebrows and leave us stunned in bewilderment.

I sat slack-jawed the last half hour of the episode, trying to put all the pieces together. What just happened? Sam’s soul belongs to who? Christian is what? Grandpa Campbell is working for who? *ro***y is searching for, where?

Gah! Answers! I am more than pleased with the new direction of the season, but I’m still so baffled. I think the only way I’m going to get through this, is if we break this sucker down. For those who’ve seen Friday’s episode, onwards and downwards. The rest of you – you know the drill – SPOILER ALERT!

After that severe brother beat down last week, we find Sam bleary-eyed, appropriately tied to a hotel chair, and our favorite angel inspecting our broken boy. An eye-check, here. A fever check, there. Doctor Cas Medicine Man asks Sam how much he’s been sleeping since he got back. “I don’t.” Dean say’s what we were all thinking, “It didn’t occur to you, that there might be something off about that?” It seems our little Sammy-boys soul problem doesn’t come with an “ask questions” button, when it comes to self-preservation. Immediately, Cas knows what’s wrong (Can you clue us in?). Cas does his shove-hand-in-body angel cavity search and finds nothing. “It’s his soul. It’s gone” (Well, that’s not good!). Cue the synchronized head turns towards Sam.

Supernatural Rewind: “You Can’t Handle The Truth”

Is that really you, Sam?

Source: Salted & Burned

Before we start, I have to apologize to someone. I’m talking to you, New Sam. I’m sorry. I had no idea. I guess we should have seen this coming, with Angel’s and Demon’s stealing soul’s and everything. Though, that still doesn’t explain who brought you back. I’m still waiting for that answer. I have to admit, even though I feel sorry for you – you tried your best to be honest – I still don’t trust you. After you betrayed Dean like that (Letting that vampire get bitey), it’s going to take some time to regain my trust. But, I have all the confidence in you, Sammy. Shhh . . . don’t tell Dean, but in seasons 1-3, you were my favorite. Yes, it was quite a surprise to this self-proclaimed Dean Girl too. You know what, Sam? We’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s back up this train to where the truth started spilling out all over the place. For those who’ve seen Friday’s episode, onwards and downwards. To the rest of you, SPOILER ALERT!

Truth. We always say we want it, but when we finally get it, sometimes we regret ever asking for it in the first place. This week’s episode deals with exactly that. No matter how much we want the truth, sometimes we just can’t handle it. Case in point, our first victim. A waitress with some already deeply seeded self-confidence issues, is having a rough day. She just want’s the truth and that’s exactly what she’s going to get. Truth after truth, her confidence falls into little tiny pieces on the floor, and it get’s worse. She call’s her sister, only to hear that she is a freak and a burden, and she should just kill herself. The girl takes a gun from the front desk and does as she’s told. I don’t know about you, but I think that this is probably one of the darkest openings in Supernatural history. Am I right?

On the home front, Sam and Dean are picking up a quick bite before heading out to find their next case. While Sam is retrieving their food, Dean makes a phone call to the one person he can rely on, Bobby. He voices his many, many, many concerns over Sam. He goes over his theories, – Lucifer, demon, etc.  – but Bobby wants to keep it professional. They need evidence before Dean can do any shootin’ (No, Dean. No). As soon as Bobby’s side of the conversation is over, Sam appears with a case. 4 suicides in two weeks. The decide to check it out.

Supernatural Rewind: “Weekend At Bobby’s”

We appreciate you, Bobby!

Source: Salted & Burned

If there is one thing that Friday’s episode of Supernatural (Directed by Jensen Ackles!) taught us, it was that you shouldn’t take family for granted. Especially, If they can kill demons, bury a body, and take phone calls. In fact, being the person who handles all the drama the Winchesters – and a lot of other hunters – dig (Summon) up is a very hard job. He can’t even enjoy a nice slice of peach cobbler! I for one, dearest Uncle Bobby, appreciate you. And will do so, by recapping this episode.

Balls! I forgot to say SPOILER ALERT!

One year ago, Bobby sold his soul (It was during the impending Apocalypse. You can’t blame the guy for wanting to help) to our favorite demon, Crowley. With the exchange came a few insider details, a new pair of legs, and the promise to return Bobby’s soul after our boys defeated Satan, stopped the world from ending, etc. As the episode begins, the wounds are still freshly opened, Sam just swan dived into Hell, and Bobby is summoning Crowley. He wants his soul back. Only, Crowley can’t (Or rather, won’t) give it to him. He tells him, that a few minor points in their contract have been overlooked – like Bobby having only 10 years to live. So as the old adage says, “never trust a demon” (Even if he is charming, highly sarcastic, and very entertaining).

Now, the newly reunited Sam and Dean are hunting once again, but are stumped at what they find. A claw. A claw they’ve never seen before. So what do they do? They call Uncle Bobby for help. Dean takes a picture of the remains with his camera phone (I never thought I’d say those words. Who knew that 1 year as a normal person would make him so tech savvy?), and sends it to Bobby whose lack of up-to-date technology is hilarious (Dial-up. Ha!). I’m holding out for Sam to buy him a decent computer by the end of the season. Mostly, I just want to see the hijinks that would ensue if Sam and Dean ever walked into a Best Buy.

Supernatural Rewind: “Exile on Main Street”

What happened to you, Dean?

Source: Salted & Burned

Last night’s season premiere was too much to handle! I’m still recovering. And there is so much to discuss. Sam and Dean are together again, but their not the people they once were. Grandpa Campbell is back from the dead. Cas is M.I.A. Dean hasn’t spoken to Bobby in ages. Sam has been hunting since he got back a year ago, but he didn’t tell Dean (Sammy, that hurts). And Dean is just a whole other story that needs to be recapped and discussed right now, because I really need to say something about it or I will go crazy. So for all of you that watched, onwards and downwards! For the rest of you . . . SPOILER ALERT!

ONE YEAR AGO: Cemetery. Impala. Sam. Adam. Dean. Rings. Devils cage. Sam looks at Dean all bloodied and bruised and shakes his head yes. Dean looks at Sam . . . sorry, I cry every time I see this episode . . . we hear Sam say, “I’m not coming back” (Oh, really?). Sam and Adam fall into the deep depths of hell. Dean. Impala. Sam saying he wants dean to live a normal apple pie (“Get me some pie!”) life with Lisa (Yuck) and Ben.

NOW: Dean is in bed with Lisa and the clock strikes 7am (Horrible beeping sound included). To me Dean doesn’t look too happy. Or maybe he’s just thinking about how much he misses Sam (Aww).

Lisa: “You, okay?”

Dean: “Yeah. I’m good”

Sorry Dean, but I don’t believe you.

As Beautiful Loser (We can talk about the significance of that song title later) by Bob Seger plays, the normal apple pie life that Dean is experimenting with (Because I don’t think he’ll stick with it) starts to unfold. In a great montage, we compare Deans new life to his old one. Grabbing salt from the cabinet we see what he uses it for now (Making eggs) and what he used to use it for (Keeping away the demons and ghosts). Putting his tools in his truck (What? Dean doesn’t drive a truck) and putting the arsenal in the trunk of the Impala. Using hammers and saws for his job as a construction worker now, and using tools to kill vampires then. Having a beer at a BBQ and having a beer with Sam (Aww). Working on the truck (What?) with Ben, and working on the Impala with Sam (Aww). Everything seems to be going all right for Dean. He’s out of the hunter life. He has Ben and Lisa (No. You’re supposed to be with Sam, Dean). He has the life of someone normal. But what normal person keeps a gun and holy water under his bed? Someone who isn’t satisfied with his “normal” life. Someone who needs to be what he is destined to be: a hunter.

Glass breaks. The new Supernatural logo appears (So awesome).

Supernatural Season 6 . . . It’s Here

Are you ready?

Source: Google Images

It’s here. It’s finally here. The sixth season of Supernatural has arrived and will soon be on our television screens. Thank Chuck. In all honesty, I’m trying to be calm, but it isn’t working very well. It doesn’t help that there has been almost every great episode of Supernatural on my TV since 11 o’clock last night. There is no better way to wake up in the morning than hearing Renegade by Styx from the episode “Nightshifter.” Alright, I’ll admit it. I might have woken up a little earlier than that. I just love the bromance between Ronald and Dean.

But who cares about old episodes? The new season is starting tonight! Sam is back, from hell. Dean is settled down (NO!). Castiel is a big shot upstairs. I have a feeling that this first episode is going to be riddled with “What the?” moments. I really don’t know what to expect (I don’t read major spoilers) and that is the way I like it.

So after two years of heavy mythology, not-so-nice angels (Zacharia), demons, an impending apocalypse, Crowley, and Lucifer, what can we expect? We know that the monster of the week formula is returning, but I don’t think it’s going to be the same. The tables have turned. Dean is the one resisting the hunter life and Sam is embracing it. Can someone say more brother drama? I love Dean and Sam, but seriously? Those boys just need to hug it out. That is my only expectation for the season. I just want them to hug it out . . . and be shirtless.

Supernatural Season 6 premieres TONIGHT (September 24th) on the CW at 8pm CT.

Are you excited about the season premiere tonight? What do you hope will happen? Tell me in the comments!

NerdTube: Best of Supernatural

It’s almost here. Tomorrow is the season 6 premiere of Supernatural!

Alright. Calm down. I know you all are fangirling right now (Or it may be just me), but it will be okay. The hours are winding down. The salt has been laid across the doors and windows (You have to keep all those ghosts and demons away, you know?). You’ve prayed to Chuck for a good season. Now, it’s time to wait a little longer (Say what?). Yes, there is still a few more (long) hours left (1 day) until the season 6 premiere has registered in our minds and we’re trying to fully understand all the awesomeness. So for today let’s just take a look back at some of the best moments from the past seasons of Supernatural.

Season 5 “Changing Channels”

For most of you, this will not make any sense. But trust me, this is by far one of the best episodes of the entire series. Should I give you some background information? No. I don’t think I will. After these hilarious scenes, you’ll just have to watch from the beginning of the series to find out (*Does evil laugh*).

NerdTube: Top 5 Supernatural Fanvids

Only 2 more days until the season 6 premiere of Supernatural!

I don’t think any Supernatural Premiere Week celebration would be complete if I didn’t give a shout-out to the fans. They are the best. They’re intense, sometimes critical (But don’t hold that against them), they really care about what happens to the characters, and they always know how to bring out the awesome fan made videos. Here are my top 5 (There are so many it was hard to choose) favorite Supernatural fanvids.

5. Supernatural Season 2′s Funniest Dean & Sam Moments by July83rose:

No matter how many times you watch “Yellow Fever” or hear “If you fudgin’ touch me again, I’ll fudgin’ kill ya!” it never get’s old.
