Trailer Talk: Dark Shadows

Funny Vampire

This trailer is brought to you by the eccentric, insanely genius duo of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. Need I say more? Well, I suppose if you need more . . . here it is. Based on the 1966 supernatural vampire soap opera, Dark Shadows tells the story of Barnabas Collins: a man turned into a vampire by a witch lusting after his affections. Awesome, right? But wait, there’s more. After years of being trapped inside his tomb, Collins finds himself in the year 1972. It’s safe to say, Collins is way out of his element. What is first setup as a tragic, gothic love story – with ghosts, witches, and the like – the scene easily transforms into a comedic frenzy of familiar faces (Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer) and hilarious one-liners. The trailer conveys a fun farce, with enough dark mystery and romance thrown in to make it complete. This is not your average vampire story and I am completely okay with that. I mean, it’s a Tim Burton film; what more can you say? Dark Shadows arrives in theatres May 11, 2012. Go on. Watch the trailer and tell me what you think.

What did you think of the trailer? Will you see the movie? What was your favorite line? Tell me in the comments!

TV Rewind: The Vampire Diaries – “The Birthday”

“You can cry if you want to.”

Source: The Vampire Diaries Blood Falls

Welcome friends and my fellow TVD groupies (You know who you are). I missed you all so much. Ooh! I must give a shout out to all you new readers out there. You are out there, aren’t you? Oh, good. Welcome to the first installment of this years super-awesome Vampire Diaries reviews/recaps brought to you by yours truly. How are you all doing? Have you come down from your TVD induced high yet? Yeah, me neither. After last seasons killer season finale (We miss you Aunty J and Uncle John. Uh, not really), we all had high expectations for the season three premiere. So much hope was placed on a breakthrough for Delena, a rightfully wicked storyline and character change for Stefan, and much more screen time for our favorite teacher and hunter, Alaric (Or was that just me?). Now the morning after, our heads are filled with last nights shenanigans – dissecting and reliving each moment in detail. We must ask ourselves the ultimate question. Did last nights premiere satisfy our cravings? Well, did it? I see you’re nodding your head. It’s true that last night was tame compared to the season two premiere, but what we experienced was much more of an emotional ride that pushed these characters to new limits. The last time we saw the residents of Mystic Falls, chaos ruled. Klaus had brought down his sadistic power over Elena and her family, while Stefan made a deal to sacrifice himself to save his brother, Damon, from a nasty werewolf bite (All that unneeded angst and drama is still not forgiven TVD writers). Set two months after the events of last seasons finale, we found our favorite characters trying deal with the aftermath. Warning! This is a SPOILER ALERT.

Press Play Friday: The Mitch Hansen Band

“Stupid shiny Volvo owner, I’m so glad to see you here.”

Source: Google Images

This week we saw what happened when Supernatural and Twilight combined. It was amazing, let’s face it. Yet, this wasn’t the first time Twilight fused with another one of my favorite things. If I told you that there was a band  – an awesome band – that makes music dedicated to the Twilight world, what would you say? Well, if you’re not a TwiHard, you’d probably say I was insane. If you’re a Potter fan, you’d probably say Wizard Rock is better. However, if you are a TwiHard, you know I’m talking about The Mitch Hansen Band.

A little over two years ago, I had a newly found obsession in a book series. I was just starting down the Twi road when I heard Number 3. Hearing The Mitch Hansen Band was like completing the circle. There was music to companion the book series. It made sense and it was awesome. When you’re so invested in a series, having a musical reference heightens the reading experience. It made me love the series even more. You know what I’m talking about, Potter fans.

Whether or not you’re a twifan, there is no denying that The Mitch Hansen Band takes their craft seriously. They make amazing music, if it’s about Twilight or not (It’s a choice. Don’t judge). In 2007, their debut album Twilight Hour was released. The all acoustic album focused on the first three books of the series. Songs like Lullaby and A World Without You immediately made TwiHard’s hearts pitter-patter. A mostly literal interpretation of the series, Twilight Hour respectfully paid homage to our favorite characters. One year later, Endless Day came out. Backed with a full band and increased rock sound, The Mitch Hansen Band brought back the songs we loved with some new enhancements.

Supernatural Rewind: “Live Free or TwiHard”

* WARNING! Super FanGirl mode will commence in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .

I’m trying to be calm, but my inner fangirl is squeeing and jumping, and yelling, and waving her hands in the air. If it isn’t obvious already, on Friday night my favorite series and my favorite show collided. It might not be the way that I wanted – like Sam, Dean, RPattz, Edward Cullen, and me [The following has been edited. The statement is not appropriate for all readers. To see the unedited version please read some fan-fiction. We apologize for the inconvenience.] Wait. I want that to happen in real life. Damn. I keep getting those two confused. – but it still made me squee with delight several, several times.

Only, there is something bigger we have to address. Let’s say it in unison, because we’re all thinking it. “What the hell, Sam?” What the hell? There is no doubting it now, but there is something seriously wrong with our beloved Sammy. In the beginning of the season I had my doubts. We all knew Sam wasn’t the same. He was a little tougher and unwilling to answer questions. However, small moments (Like in Two and a Half Men) made me believe it still was Sam. Now, I’m not so sure. He’s been to hell and back. That is going to change the man.

Despite that, Sammy betrayed the only real family he had. The large smirk on his face as that vampire turned Dean was bone chilling. Is that even Sam? No matter how much crap these two brothers have been through, they always (ALWAYS) come through for one another. Even if he experienced the worst of hell, there is no doubt in my mind that he would never, ever hurt his brother like that intentionally. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back to the beginning and see how all this drama started. First, to get the mood going, I think it’s only appropriate to play Supermassive Black Hole in the background. It just seems to fit, doesn’t it?

Vampires, Werewolves, and Tents! Oh, My!

Alright, before we begin, do you have your Team Edward shirt? How about your Team Jacob jorts? Got them? Good. Because it’s time to get Eclipsed!

Source: TwilightMB

Eclipse finally opens in theaters today (As if you didn’t know). Are you excited? Do you find yourself bouncing up and down in your seat just thinking about that steamy tent scene? Are you rereading your favorite chapter’s, just so you can remember every bit of delicious cheesy detail right before you get into the theater? Of course, you are. I am.

It’s common knowledge that Eclipse is my favorite out of the saga. It’s funny, intense, action-y (That’s not really a word, but I’m going to use it, anyways), and romantic. Having that whirlpool of themes and emotions is something that I always look for, whether it be in books or movies. What makes Eclipse the favorite in my eyes, is the relationship between Bella and Edward. They seem to journey down a path that ties them together permanently, even though she consistently tolls with a young werewolf’s (He’s really a shape shifter, but we’ll leave it be for now) affections.
