“The best laid plans of mice and (wo)men often go awry.” Which is undoubtedly true in my case, since the plans I’ve made for the last couple of months have exploded into a million, teeny-tiny pieces and burst into a raging inferno of perpetual flame. Nothing has gone as expected, with a series of major and minor catastrophes taking up most of my time. I’ve been running on per adrenaline; my appearance resembling that of a tightly wound, rainbow-colored stress-ball jumping around and about. I’m a mess, so it’s only natural that this post reflects my fragile, intriguing mental state.
We’re embracing the chaos, hence waiting until the penultimate day of the month to write this. Today’s post is truly a mashup of divergent thoughts with no rhyme or reason at all. It’s just a bunch of words that I have to get off my chest, so I don’t throw them right in the trash. I’ll give you an update on where I am with my 2025 goals and then we’ll play catch-up on some of the things that have been occupying my pop-culture addled brain when it’s not staring directly into the abyss.
Here. We. Go.
2025 Goals
Goal #1: Read (at least) 6 books from my increasing growing TBR list.
It makes me truly happy to say that I’ve already achieved my goal for this year and on the slow path to actually doubling it. Yay, me!
Quick Reviews
No notes. Truly a delight to read. Highly recommend.

I had a very up and down relationship with this one. I wasn’t sure until very end where my feelings stood. I disliked the ending completely.

Quite entertaining, but I found the pacing difficult at times. I was also mislead by the description, or I misread the description. Soulmate-based adventure/romance it is not.

Oh, where do I start with this one? I’m still so befuddled by it. Contemptuous main characters and an already-been-done narrative make me want to put it in the dislike column, but its vampires, gothic setting, and twist ending make me want to seek out the sequel.

Goal #2: Make one recipe a month from the multitude of cookbooks I have and never opened.
I’ve definitely been keeping up with this goal; maybe a little too much, considering. Here are my favorite recipes I’ve made so far. Yes, a couple of them are from Pinterest and not an actual cookbook, but it still counts!

Rizzo’s Wedge Salad (from Matty Matheson)
Goal #3: Have more adventures. Treat every weekend like it’s a vacation.
Fail! I haven’t gone anywhere. I’ve only dreamt about it.
Goal #4: Throw out/donate all the things I don’t need in my life for a serious de-clutter.
Success, I guess? I’ve cleaned out one closet, so I have a bit more to go.
Goal #5: Write.
This month I found it a bit (okay, a lot) harder to find time to write, but here I am. I’m not giving up just yet.
TV, Movies, and Music
Severance season two is over and my mind is completed messed up after that, so what shall I watch next? Not The Last of Us, that’s for sure. I have officially stopped watching after that hour of pure Pedro trauma. No spoilers, but how dare they? Never again!
I know Chris Evans was just in Deadpool & Wolverine and swears never to pick up the shield again, but it still hurts not to see his name on the epically long, start-studded cast list for Avengers Doomsday. Guess I’ll just fill that ever-widening whole in my heart with the Materialists; arriving in theatres June 13, 2025.
Have you been on Apple Music recently? I haven’t seen so much good new music drop since the very early 2000’s when iTunes (I may be dating myself here) actually gave you a FREE single each week and even entire albums to download. Ah, those were the days.
