Breaking It Down

What comes to mind when I say the word: FANGIRL? Does the beastly roar of a million prepubescent teenagers come to mind?

“Ahhhh! Ahhhh! OMG! He’s so hot! I love him! He’s my favorite fictional character. Like. Ever!”

Or the constant repetition of Facebook status’ that say “Why aren’t you watching Supernatural? That’s the best show of all time! Dean is so hot, but Sam is hotter!”

You’re shaking your head yes, aren’t you? I knew it.

But, Let me let you in on a little secret. That is a stereotype (The first one. The second one I do on a regular basis). The social media has made the fangirl into a screaming 12-year-old who can not make the distinction between fantasy and reality. They are wrong. I clearly know the difference between fantasy and reality. I know unicorns aren’t real.

All the fangirls I know are in their early twenties. They love what they love and don’t make any apologies for it. Fangirls come from all ranges of life. We are a unique group of female individuals who show passion for what they love, even if it is a fictional vampire who sparkles (Oh, Edward. *Sigh*).

Fangirls bring a strong devotion to whatever is the object of their fangirling, most in a very humorous and intelligent way. So I think it’s about time we break down those stereotypes.

I want this blog to be a place for my fellow fangirls and nerds alike to be able to speak their mind. To talk about things that they love and I love too. I will cover a wide range of subjects and are open to new ones, so suggest away! Oh, and you don’t have to be a fangirl, here. You can be a fanboy, person who likes things, person who loves things, a person, vampire, werewolf, zombie, etc.

So, let’s break down this blog thing. Here I will talk about things I love in an intelligent but fangirly way, including but not limited to:

  • T.V: Ex. Regular spots for Supernatural, TrueBlood, The Big Bang Theory, & others ( I watch a lot of T.V)
  • Movies: Ex. Reviews, Random thoughts about movies I love or YOU suggest
  • Music: Ex. Press Play Friday’s will include music reviews, artist of the month, and song/album suggestions
  • Discovery: A place for you to discover new things (More on that later)
  • Books: Ex. Twilight Saga, The Host, All of John Green‘s works, Harry Potter & much, much, more
  • Nerd News: News that’s important to YOU

So, what do you think? Will you be making a return visit? I hope so!

See you on Wednesday!   – Kim
