Mr. Music

I was scrolling through Netflix – you know, as you do – when I saw that John Mulaney had a new comedy special. I’ve become a pretty dedicated Mulaney fan within the past year, so I decided to check it out. Admittedly, I knew ahead of time that this was a different kind of special. It wasn’t standup. John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch was a kid-friendly variety hour with a few witty tunes and plenty of adult humor mixed in. I knew what I was getting into before I watched it. What I didn’t expect, though, was Jake Gyllenhaal having an out-of-this-world cameo. It completely blew my mind. I mean, wow. Give this guy an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Give him all the awards, because he deserves it. This has to be his most spectacular performance to date. It was awe-inspiring and absolutely unforgettable. Gyllenhaal plays Mr. Music, who attempts to teach the Sack Lunch Bunch that music is all around them. They don’t need instruments to play a song! Music is what you make of it. Of course, Mr. Music has a difficult time teaching this to the kids, which leads to few mishaps and plenty of laughs. Unfortunately, YouTube doesn’t have a video of Gyllenhaal as Mr. Music, so I encourage you to go to Netflix and take a look. But I think the song alone is enough to keep you amazed for days. Check it out!

See you tomorrow!
