These long, early months of the year can be brutal on your psyche if you live in a cold weather state like me. There’s snow on the ground. The sun hardly ever comes out. You feel trapped. It seems like there’s no where to go, nothing to do. You long for the days of heat and sunshine, days when you can take a long walk or lay on the beach; but summer feels like a lifetime away. Until then, you’re stuck with flurries and freezing temperatures. The days you spend indoors, curled under a blanket, feel like they’ll never end. You’re tired, sluggish. Your mood shifts and sours. Some days you can’t even find the energy to move. This darkened cloud you’re living under is relentless and unstable, but what can you do about it?
Today, I want you to take a little time for yourself. I want you to let everything go. Take your stress and leave it at the door. Wave goodbye to your depression and anxiety. You’re moving on. You’re giving up the pressures of work or school for relaxation and peace. You’re ignoring the news and taking a quick break from your family. Trust me, they’ll understand. Instead, you’re going to reflect and breathe.
Today, I want you to do some Yoga with Adriene. I’ve been following her YouTube channel for a couple of years now and I am still loving it. I am in no way good at yoga, but I do enjoy the way it stretches and strengthens my muscles. That’s one of the reasons why I like Adriene’s channel so much. She has so many different kinds of tutorials and videos, there’s something for everyone and every skill level. You don’t have to do the moves perfectly. As long as you keep moving, you’ll get something out of it. Give her a half an hour of your time and you’ll feel renewed and refreshed. I guarantee it.
See you tomorrow!
