FanGirl Addiction: Gilmore Girls

Time to bring out the Bop It!

I’d like to introduce you to a new little segment I call FanGirl Addiction. We all have a pop culture addiction; be it a T.V show, a book, a person, or a movie. You shouldn’t be ashamed of it. You should embrace it. And that’s why I’m here. This is where you come when you don’t want a cure for your pop culture addiction. Where you discuss your addiction with other people who know what you’re going through. So, welcome! May this be a home for your inner-fangirl.

Now, on to today’s addiction: Gilmore Girls. Yes, once again, I’m a little late boarding this fast talking train, but does that really matter? My love isn’t different just because the show is in repetitive reruns or still in the should there be a movie because we’re not sure mode. It doesn’t matter where you begin. The only thing that matters is how you love this amazing T.V show. So . . . um . . .  yeah. Should we start singing “We are the Gilmore” now? No? Okay.

Right now I’m at a loss for words . . . why do I love Gilmore Girls? Is it the fast talking, coffee drinking, mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory? Is it the storytelling? Is it the men: Luke, Logan, Dean (Hey, JPad!), Jess, etc? The pop culture eccentric dialogue? Is it Kirk?

Frankly, I think it’s all of the above. How can you not love the strong bond between Lorelai and Rory and want that for yourself? I particularly want the talking-a-mile-per-minute-but-still-producing-clear-magnificent thoughts aspect of the characters. Oh, if only there was a way! And what about the inventive and hilarious conversations and dialogue? For me, it’s as if sometimes they say exactly what I was thinking, only in a much better way. I love that!

Let’s not forget the biggest thing of all . . . the long hours of debate whether Rory should have ended up with Logan or Jess. Many have disputed that Jess is the one and only man for Rory. But I  . . . listen up people . . . think . . . get ready for it . . . believe . . . that Rory should be with . . . Logan. Yes. I said it. Logan. I love Logan Sorry, Jared I mean Dean. You’re my second favorite for Rory.

You OK over there? Do you need a glass of water or… a time machine?

Now dear readers, it’s time for you to sound off! Why do you love Gilmore Girls? Has your addiction made you pull out the Bop It when your friends aren’t getting along? Do you now have a subliminal need to drink cups and cups of coffee?

Do you have a pop culture addiction? Tell me in the comments!

What others have to say about their love of Gilmore Girls:

@BringBackGG says: Because of the relationship between Rory & Lorelai and it’s the reason why my mother and me are so close.

There’s just no other show like it on TV and there never will be. It was a classic and is very missed by tons of fans.

It was original, witty & hilarious to watch. The culture references and fast talk made it so enjoyable.

@michelle4p says: bc the script, the actors, the music, the production is simply amazing & Rory is my role model!
