Trailer Talk: Cosmopolis

Let’s Take a Ride

It’s the (teaser) trailer we’ve all been waiting for; the first look at Cosmopolis. Director David Cronenberg and Robert Pattinson have teamed up to bring the Don DeLillo novel to the big screen, which follows a day in the life of egocentric multimillionaire, Eric Packer. I must warn you, this is thirty-three seconds of unadulterated brilliant, crazy movie-making. The clip boasts a series of short scenes and indescribable visuals, causing us to question – forcing us to beg for more. It’s a damn tease, that’s what it is. Some will be surprised, as this is a complete departure for our favorite actor. A dark, catastrophic journey on the streets of a futuristic New York metropolis; salacious limousine rendezvous’; mangled scenes of violence. Others will be surprised, simply because this has all the telltale signs of being an amazing film. As of now, we have no exact confirmation when Cosmopolis will drive into theatres (in the U.S), but be sure to check back here for all the latest news and the premiere of the official full-length trailer. In the meantime, while we’re not-so patiently waiting, let’s get the conversation started. Head down to the comments and tell me what you thought about this insane trailer. Don’t worry. It’s okay. You may FanGirl as much as you need. I understand.

UPDATE: Cosmopolis will be shown in limited release (Isn’t that always the way?) starting August 17th, 2012!

Innnneerrrressstttinnggg. Tell me more! What’s the storyline?

I like seeing Rob Pattinson as a bit of a bad arse I have to say. And not in a sparkly kind of way.

    1. Well, I know that all *that* happens while Eric is on his way to get a haircut (Seriously). I’ve read a couple articles about the differences between the novel and film, but mostly I know there’s a lot (a lot) of sexy times, Paul Giammati is in it, and most of it happens in a limo. So, yeah. I don’t really know what it’s about. I do know, I agree with you. Bad Ass Rob looks amazing. I can’t wait to see this film, because look at it. How different is this from his other films? And by the early buzz I’ve been hearing, this could be a definite breakout for him. He deserves to be recognized as the great actor he is. 🙂

Hahaha on the way to get a haircut?!?! What the hell?

Although saying that, is this the film where he has that crazy homeless man haircut? Because perhaps that was the universe’s way of saying not to do it…

        1. Lol. It’s true. There’s no denying the fact, this film is going to be different and a little out there. I can’t wait to see Rob and, yes, his one-sided Mohawk in something completely off the wall. But this is one film you shouldn’t bring your mom to. Haha!

Hahaha. Yeah…saying that, my mum walked in on me watching Not Another Teen Movie when I was fifteen…right in the middle of the vibrator scene. And she sat down and watched it with me! ahahaha.

        3. Haha! Awkward. How about sitting down to watch a movie with both your parents, only to watch ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ the unrated version? Which meant at least an extra five minutes of weird full-frontal dancing from Jason Segel. Yeah. Can someone say, super uncomfortable?
