The Return of the Nerds
Once again, Comic Con has come and gone, leaving hours upon hours of interviews, sneak peeks, and trailers in its wake. For those who couldn’t attend this year’s event, like myself, I’ve compiled a few highlights, a few of your favorites, so you too can be up-to-date will all the latest from the Con.
Breaking Dawn (Part 2)
Twilight‘s reign over Comic Con has finally come to a close. Sigh. The highly anticipated panel did not disappoint, as fans were treated to Rob Pattinson’s classic one-liners, equal parts awkwardness and hilarity, and seven minutes of the final film. From what I’ve heard, the footage shown detailed the early hours after Bella Cullen’s transformation, including Bella and Edward’s first hunt together, and Bella’s attempts at acting human for the blissfully unaware, Charlie. Unluckily for us, the scenes from the series last installment are unavailable to the rest of us non-con goer’s. However (start getting excited), you can view the rest of the panel right here, right now. Just click on Mr. Pattinson and he will direct you to your new destination. Enjoy!

The Vampire Diaries
Okay, everyone relax. Breathe. Ahhhhh!!!! Vampire Diaries!!! No. No, calm down. You can’t FanGirl on me now, this is serious business. We still have almost three months to go before the TVD hellatus is over and we can’t squee over every little thing. Wait. Nevermind. Forget I said that. October 11th is a long ways away. Go ahead and squee all you want. I can’t blame you. This is the first time we’re getting relatively obscure answers about next season. The panel discusses character evolution, character hookups, and the future of Delena & Stelena. However, one very, very important bit of information was left out. What about Joseph “JoMo” Morgan’s future on the show? What. About. Klaus. Huh? *Uses scary voice * Tell us. On the other hand, executive producer/writer Jule Plec was eager to entertain the idea of Alaric’s return to Mystic Falls. Looks like there’s hope after all.
Ian on the love triangle after Elena’s transformation: “She’s going to need help from [Damon and Stefan], and I think the three of them are quite possibly going to learn a LOT together . . . It’s going to be an interesting process.”
Paul’s Suggestion for the love triangle? “Salvatore Sandwich.”
The Host
Just one of many surprises at Comic Con, Stephenie Meyer and writer/director Andrew Niccol made a brief appearance after the Breaking Dawn panel to discuss the upcoming Host film (In theatres March 29, 2013). The pair talked briefly about the film – Niccol showing serious dedication to the Host world and its characters – and gave the audience a brief look at Melanie’s transformation from human to Wanderer.
The footage they showed . . . began with Saorise Ronan’s character opening her eyes to reveal an inhuman coloration. She’s in some kind a facility and has just been taken over by an alien life force. Diane Kruger’s character (also taken over) talks to her and reveals that most of Earth has been invaded and that human bodies are conquered and controlled. This new girl was formerly a famous resistance fighter and she needs the alien inside her to probe her memories. The scene turns to a series of flashbacks with, in each shot, much of the frame blurred. Ronan explains that the girl was named Melanie Stryder and that she managed to escape the early wave of attacks on Earth.
A (presumably later) scene has the inhabited-Melanie being led to a cave in a series of desert mountains. There are men there that want to kill her because they don’t trust the alien within her, but William Hurt’s character . . . comes in with a shotgun and stops them. (via CommingSoon.net)

Man of Steel
Yeah . . . the only reason why I’m posting this is so I can look at him (the über-gorgeous Henry Cavill) all day. Can you blame me?

Supernatural
Supernatural will be starting its eighth season this fall (!) and our favorite hunters have been to hell and back – literally – but this upcoming season might be a little different for the boys. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, along with producers Jeremy Carver and Ben Edlund, were all on hand to talk about the Winchester Brothers and what we can expect after Dean’s journey into purgatory.
Jeremy says that at the beginning of this season, we will learn that “being separated had a profound effect on both of them and they have gone a separate way.” Also, they will have spent “more than a summer” apart. “The relationships that they made and their time off from each other will be very important in each of their lives, and they will have to come to terms with the new relationship in each of their lives,” he says. Ben points out that the boys are “emotional shut-ins that have to learn how to deal” with what happened to each other during the summer. (Via EW)
Jeremy tries to explain: “I can’t go into it too much, but suffice to say that in a lot of season’s past the boys have been reacting to something, but this year, they’re starting on offense.” He says they’re chasing “something near and dear to their hearts.” Ben elaborates: They are on a “chase for a power source that we’ve already seen hints of.” (via EW)

Mythbusters
We all love the Mythbusters, right? Well, this fall they’re back with more myths, more explosions, and more Adam and Jamie. I’m super-excited to see how they tackle the floating door myth from Titanic: the Movie. Go on, check out the teaser for yourselves.
Doctor Who
It seemed everywhere you looked the adorable Matt Smith and Co. (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) were somewhere, someplace, promoting the newest season of Doctor Who. Not that I’m complaining. Here they are at Nerd HQ, taking time for some Q & A’s.
What did you think of all these spoilers, teasers, and celebrity panels? What films are you looking forward to this year or the next? Which TV show’s return are you most excited for? Did you attend Comic Con 2012? Wish you had? Tell me in the comments!

I like Paul’s suggestion. He’s funny.
I agree, a Salvatore sandwich does sound good . . . as long as Elena shares. I’ll take Mondays and Wednesdays. Lol.
Ha ha.
Wow this is awesome! Thanks for posting these. 🙂
You’re welcome! 🙂
Damn you and your ability to have Comic-con! *shakes fist* We had one in Melbourne about a month ago, but it was pretty “meh” from what I heard. Not a delicious Salvatore brother in sight.
I keep forgetting about the craziness of the season finale of TVD-Elena is a vampire. Aww, man. I really wonder how that’s going to work for season four.
More importantly though. I wish comic-con had happened two weeks later and we could of seen K-Stew and R-Patz hating on each other on the panel. Hahaha.
The Host? Flipping excited. Mostly because the boys look really cute. And I really loved the story, so itll be interesting to see how they convert it (ahem, hopefully better than Twilight, ahem)
1. We have one in Chicago too, also meh. I think I’m going to have to suck it up and actually go to Comic Con one of these years, instead of just Internet stalking it on Twitter.
2. Is it October yet??? I don’t know how much longer I can wait to get a proper TVD fix.
3. Don’t worry. You’ll see that in November.
4. Interesting. Very . . . interesting. You might want to check out the blog on Wednesday (or in your case, Thursday). Just saying. 😉
Hahaha I’m outraged you haven’t gone yet! Imagine seeing some of the beautiful boys who grace Comic-Con. Andrew Garfield? R-Patz? Ian Somerhalder? Ahhhh
Haha yay! So excited for the shit to hit the fan…
And The Host blog post? Details please!!
I love nerds. Nerds are my people. But there’s just so many of them! I also don’t fancy waiting in line for three days for a half hour panel. Although, to have that many awesome sexy people in one place? It’s definitely something to consider. I think I’m just going to wait until I’m a uber famous writer whose book had been (accurately) turned into an amazing film, so I can experience Comic Con without all the foot pain and nerd sweat. Yep. That sounds like a plan. 🙂
Nuh uh. Not giving away any spoilers. You might want to have reread the book by the end of the month, though, so you can contribute to another Host discussion – I will say that. 😉
And you know what, as dreamy as Henry Cavill may be, I’m not excited for Superman. At. All. Batman and Spiderman all the way.
Yeah, I don’t see the point of making another film with another Superman. It’s just that it’s Henry Cavill! Would I have watched “The Immortals” if Henry Cavill (and weirdly enough, also Joseph Morgan. A nice surprise, I have to say) wasn’t in it? No. I wouldn’t have. He’s just so pretty!
True, true. That’s how I felt about Spider-man…So unnecessary, but so worth it for the cute boy…
