Nerd News: The Scoop – Fall Season Spoilers

Welcome back, old friends

It’s that time of year, again. The time when your DVR becomes your best friend, and nights once dedicated to endless summer fun become nights dedicated to sitting on your couch with a bowl of popcorn and your favorite show on the telly. Reruns are no more. Yes, the Fall TV season is right around the corner, kids. Tell me, what better way to kick it all off than with some newly prepared spoilers? I knew you’d agree with me. Go on, take a look.

The Vampire Diaries

As you probably already know, since I’m sure you’ve been tirelessly counting down the days, The Vampire Diaries return October 11th. With the exception of a few blurbs about casting and some minor comments from Comic Con, not much has been said about the fourth season of our favorite drama. Luckily, all that’s about to change.

If you’re completely compromised by the swoon worthy Joseph Morgan – and follow him on the Twitter – your fears about his immediate future on the show will have been put to rest. Yes, it seems bad boy Klaus is back to work. No need to worry your pretty little heads. Hopefully. You never know with these TVD writers. Speaking of . . . Hey, Julie Plec! What can you tell us about that whole love triangle thing we obsess over again and again and again? You know the one.

“Elena’s transition into a vampire – and the remembrance of all the memories Damon erased – will have big consequences for her relationships with both Salvatore’s. ‘All these things that she’s experienced with Damon and with Stefan will have different context for her as she’s becoming this new person,’ previews Plec. ‘This circumstance, which is pretty horrific, is going to make them all care about each other even more deeply, and argue even more intensely, and fracture even more greatly, and love as deeply as possible.’” (via TVLine)

Oh, that sounds good. Really good, actually. Damon certainly won’t be happy about Elena’s recent, uh, transformation.

“While some of the gang might be looking to help Elena fight her craving for a kill, there’s one person who certainly will not: Damon. Vampire Diaries executive producer, Julie Plec says the elder Salvatore is rooting for Mystic Falls’ newest vamp to give in to what he feels is certain to happen. ‘In his mind, there’s an inevitability to being a vampire that we should just get to and get past. [It’s] the equivalent of kicking Elena out of the bird’s nest and letting her fall and see if she can fly.’” (via EW)

Is it any surprise Damon would feel this way? Definitely not. The question is, how will Elena take it all in? What kind of vampire will she be? Rest assured, I’ll be there the day after the premiere to help you make sense of all the madness that is sure to explode out of Mystic Falls. You’re welcome. For now, please enjoy these season three bloopers. It’ll pass the time.

Doctor Who

We’ve watched the trailer (countless times) and obsessed over episode titles (Dinosaurs. On. A. Spaceship.), but now is the time, my fellow Whovians, to finally see how it all works out. Returning to BBC America September 1st (at 8pm CT), Doctor Who appropriately teases us, starting the season off with five all-new episodes: beginning with Asylum of the Daleks and concluding with the departure of companions Amy and Rory. If the imminent reappearance of the show is not enough to make you fangirl, then set your sights on this latest teaser. I can assure you, I’ve already set my DVR for the premiere and the marathon preceding it. Yep. It’s that good.

Dexter

I know there are a few Dexter fanatics out there, don’t worry, I didn’t forget about you. Unfortunately, I’m still only on season two. Which means it’s up to you to mark your calendars for the September 30th premiere and to watch this new, probably somewhat creepy trailer. In the meantime, I’m just going to walk away and pretend I didn’t see all that massively spoilery stuff I just saw. Nope. Didn’t see it.

The Walking Dead

This is the first official teaser from the third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, and it’s pretty fantastic, I gotta say. The four-minute preview leaves us little time to breath and take it all in, and there’s a lot to take in, trust me. From the introduction of the infamous Governor to a swarm of hungry walkers, from a new place of refuge for Rick Grimes and his crew to a swarm of hungry walkers, there is surely much to nerd out over. In fact, I’m sure multiple viewings are required to ensure every single mysterious plot point or spoiler is catalogued and put away for future use. The new season debuts October 14th.

Are you excited for the new Fall TV season? Which show’s return are you looking forward to the most? Are there any new shows you plan on watching? Tell me in the comments!

Can’t wait for TVD to return and to read your reviews again! Woot.
I hope the female characters are better represented in season 3 of The Walking Dead.

    1. I can’t wait, either. For TVD and to start recapping again. I’m in serious need for a Damon fix. 🙂

Yeah, they really don’t have a strong female presence on the show. Andrea comes close, but her sucky attitude overshadows that sometimes. I hope they give Maggie a bigger role this season. She’s become one of my favorites.

      1. Emma says:

Yeah, I like Maggie. The trailer looks great.
I’m in dire need of a decent vampire show. True Blood just had its worst season, in my opinion anyway.

        1. I only have one more episode to catch up with, then I’ll be all set to watch the finale. This season wasn’t the best, you’re correct. I think there are bits and pieces that were better than last season. But overall, I think these past two seasons have been all together pretty poor – at least not as good as the beginning of the series. It used to be more outrageous. It’s become not predictable, but rather tame, for True Blood, anyway.

TVD! I’d kinda forgotten about you…

Speaking of, how did Elena turn into a vampire again? I cannot for the life of me remember!

And thanks for the Dexter bit, appreciate it 🙂 Except I never got to the end of season 6…whoops

    1. Elena hit her head at Casa de Klaus. Meredith gave her some vamp blood. Matt drove the car off the bridge. Elena died and voila! A new baby vampire is born. How could you forget that?! 🙂

You’re welcome. Don’t worry. I’m still on season two!

      1. setinmotion says:

        OOOOhhhhhhh yah!

And lets be honest, I forgot because my mind chose to forget the entirety of the awful mess that was season three

        1. It was a bit of a catastrophe. Alaric’s death. Stefan. Elena’s indecision. Klaus body switching. Damon finally making a move only to be shot down. A definite mess, I agree. Yet, I couldn’t help but love every (almost every) second of it. 🙂

        2. setinmotion says:

Hahaha well I definitely remember the make-out scene that Damon and Elena had…that bit I didnt forget…

        3. I didn’t think the leader of the Team Delena fan club would. Lol.

        4. setinmotion says:

Hurry up and happen already! DAMNIT!
