Florence + The Machine “St. Jude”

Chapter 2

Hear the heavy beat of her heart barely breathing from behind.

Another conversation with no destination, another battle never won

Watch as the rain pours down upon lovers in the haunted ruins of a former home.

And each side is a loser, so who cares who fired the gun

He is bruised and broken, fighting the tide, cradling his soul in his arms. What kind of man loves like this? With her back against the wall.

And I’m learning, so I’m leaving
And even though I’m grieving, I’m trying to find the meaning
Let loss reveal it
Let loss reveal it

She is soaked skin and heart-sick, damned to swim through an endless sea until she can find the shore.

St. Jude, the patron saint of the lost causes
St. Jude, we were lost before she started
St. Jude, we lay in bed as she whipped around us
St. Jude, maybe I’ve always been more comfortable in chaos

Destined to dream. Destined to remember.

And I was on the island and you were there too
But somehow through the storm I couldn’t get to you
St. Jude, somehow she knew

Followed by ghosts, tormented by scenes from her past, present, and future.

And she came to give her blessing, while causing devastation
And I couldn’t keep my mouth shut
I just had to mention, grab your attention

Doing such damage, yet she crawls back for more.

St. Jude, the patron saint of the lost causes
St. Jude, we were lost before she started
St. Jude, we lay in bed as she whipped around us
St. Jude, maybe I’ve always been more comfortable in chaos

Fingertips pull breath and press on tear-stained lips; life brought back to taste and devourOne more kiss. One more goodbye.

And I’m learning, so I’m leaving
And even though I’m grieving, I’m trying to find the meaning
Let loss reveal it
Let loss reveal it

She is soaked skin and heart-sick, walking past demons and darkness. Giving in, but never giving up.

And I’m learning, so I’m leaving
And even though I’m grieving, I’m trying to find the meaning
Let loss reveal it

She is forging a new path.

Let loss reveal it

I can’t wait for this album to drop.

    1. Having to wait until June is torture! Especially when she keeps teasing us with these stunning songs. Only two more months to go 😀
