“Be Sure to Drink Your Ovaltine”

It’s December, and do you know what that means? Besides good cheer, sugar cookies, peace and joy, and snow? Yes! That’s right. It’s time to break out the holiday film collection. I love movies (You, undoubtedly, know this already) and I love Christmas (Duh). Combine the two, and you have a Top Ten Countdown just waiting to happen.
A cult classic, for sure.
9. Prancer
If there is one holiday film I remember watching most as a child, it would be Prancer. I really don’t understand why. It always makes me cry like a little baby FanGirl.
I just love to watch Hugh Grant dance.
Just thinking about Linus and his blue blankie, Charlie Brown and his Christmas tree, it makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
6. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Is it so surprising that they’re now dedicating twenty-four hours to rerun what could only be called the funniest Christmas movie of all-time? I think not.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, Frosty the Snowman. Do I need to go on?
This has been a long-standing tradition in my family, thanks to my grandmother. It was one of the tapes she always had on hand every year for our usual Christmas gathering, knowing that my cousins and I would eagerly gather around just to delight in Mickey’s retelling of the classic Charles Dickens tale.
Self-explanatory.
Who doesn’t love the Muppets? Seriously?
Not only is it one of the best musicals you’ll ever see, it’s definitely one of the only Christmas films that I can watch over and over again (in the same day, mind you) . . . and quote verbatim.
What is YOUR favorite holiday film? Which films would you include in your own countdown? What do you think of the films listed above? Tell me in the comments!

I love Santa Claus: The Movie and Love Actually. One Magic Christmas and The Family Stone would be my favourites.
I’ve never heard of ‘One Magic Christmas.’ What is it about?
It’s kind of a bleak film that has a happy ending, of course. Poor family, mother who doesn’t like Christmas but it’s really beautiful.
I think the only two of these I’ve seen is Santa Claus and Love Actually, the latter which I was forced to watch by my roommate last Christmas. Believe it or not I found it very ‘meh’. Such a grinch.
I’m surprised that Miracle on 34th Street isnt up there! I remember watching it as a kid and being like “Yep, its a fact, Santa is REAL’
Oh, Hannah. What have you been doing with your time? I immediately request you seek out all these films. It doesn’t matter if you’re old, young, celebrate Christmas, or any other holiday. They’re must-watch classics.
Haha! I get that a lot. “Why don’t you like ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ or ‘It’s a Wonderful Life?'” The truth is, I do like them. But once you’ve seen them a thousand times, they start to lose their sparkle. Of course, I’ve also watched the other ones more than necessary, but we’ll just ignore that fact for the moment. 😉
