Trailer Talk: Beautiful Creatures

It’s magic, you know?

First off, I swear to you, if I had known about this, I would have contacted you about it sooner, because you know this is right up my alley. Of course, the level of impressive marvel is increased with the inclusion of Seven Devils by my pal, Florence. But, that’s neither here nor there. The truth of the matter is, this is one phenomenal trailer, for a film with stupendous potential. How do I know? Well, I might have fangirled a bit when I saw it. That’s all the proof you need, really.

Based on the novel of the same name – by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl – Beautiful Creatures centers around the forbidden love between Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert). Lena is a witch (Otherwise known as a Caster) and her family doesn’t quite approve of the match. No surprise there. However, time is fleeting for the couple, as Lena must choose between the Light and the Dark before her sixteenth birthday. Others try to influence her and test her commitment – even her Siren cousin, Ridley (Emmy Rossum), and Incubus uncle (Jeremy Irons) – but the real threat is Serafine (Emma Thompson), the deadliest of them all, who will stop at nothing to sway Lena into joining the dark side. As you can see, the two are in for a mess of trouble.

The film arrives in theatres February 14, 2013. Until then, though, I think it’s best if we’re all on the same page. We have a new book to read, don’t we?

What did you think of the trailer? Have you read the novel? Will you see the movie? What was your favorite line? Favorite scene? Love the song? Anyone else notice the easily spotted similarities between this trailer and the first Twilight trailer? Tell me in the comments!

    I totally missed this book.

    1. Me too. I remember hearing the name and seeing it in the bookstore, but I didn’t know it was such a big deal. Plus, it’s part of a series.

It looks interesting, though this reminded me of the first Twilight trailer. They have similar looks and setup.

Contemplating seeing the movie first, and then reading the book. But when has that ever been a good idea? Lol.

You know, I saw this trailer and was starting to get excited…but just didn’t. I dont know but it seems a bit meh, perhaps because deep south accents annoy me? Let me know if its good though!

    1. I’ll admit, from what we saw, the dialogue could use some work. And the love story did seem a bit meh, but the family dynamics seem like they could be fun to watch. Plus, you know with Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson it has to be at least 95% good. . . I hope.

Please read the book you wont regret it, its amazing!! Its actually one of my favourite books ever! Im a little disappointed with the cast as Lena is meant to have black hair and green eyes and Ethan is meant to have scruffy hair that falls in his face but nevermind im so excited for the film! The book’s series is great im on book 3 at the moment! Please read the books before you watch the film!

    1. Oh, definitely. There was never a question. We all know it’s rare for the movie version to live up to the novel. I’m a Twilight fan, after all. I know how that goes. Lol. 😉
