Rebekah’s Revenge
Hello again and welcome! It’s so nice to see you after that short, yet still indescribably long, hiatus. You’ll never know how much I’ve missed you. And now here you are, back to receive your weekly dose of Vampire Diaries goodness. All is right with the world.
I know when we last saw each other things weren’t working out the way we’d hoped, but we pulled through. Sort of. We dealt with Elena’s reluctance to become a vampire. Accepted our ever-increasing love for bad boy, Klaus. We even managed to put aside our differences with Stefan, in our own way. However, there was that one thing we wouldn’t/couldn’t accept: Elena and Damon. Discovering their sire bond had been an unknown, and for some, unwanted dent in our plans. Their indecisiveness and careless conduct regarding their on-again off-again relationship had left many of us on the sidelines, testing our devotion to the couple. This week, we finally saw resolution. Although, some issues had quickly disappeared into thin air. Not that I’m complaining. Much. It just got me to thinking. If the teenagers of Mystic were like many younglings today, how would they express their heedless approach to relationships in a world dedicated to revealing their lives via social media?

What did you think of this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries? What was your favorite scene? Favorite line? Do you still feel sympathy for Rebekah or did she ruin her chances for redemption? Ha ha, so so bad but funny, Kim. I’m delighted Rebekah is back – she made the episode. I enjoyed The Breakfast Club/Dawson’s Creek style library scene. Now we know Elena’s true feeling for Stefan and it must hurt pretty bad for Stef. He needs a new woman in his life and a fun, meddling, blonde Original vamp might be the perfect girl for him right now.

I keep going back and forth with Rebekah. One minute I like her, the next minute I don’t. I didn’t enjoy the ‘Breakfast Club’ scene as much as I would have liked to, because all I kept thinking about was the sire bond. It’s stuck in my craw, what can I say? We all knew Elena loved Damon despite the bond, so what was the point of it then? It probably sped up their relationship – conveniently, for us – but in the end, it didn’t really matter. And now it’s like the topic magically flew away. On the other hand, the scene where Damon asks her to come to him? Short, sweet, and just what we needed.
I did feel bad for Stefan. I just wish he’d turn all that bubbling under the surface rage into becoming more like his former (more enjoyable to watch) Ripper self. I agree, if they add more bickering and a whole lot of sexual tension, I bet this newfound partnership between Stefan and Rebekah could be good for him, and fun to watch.
